What to do when you hear the Adhaan (Call to prayer)?

One repeats just as the muadhdhin (one who calls to prayer) says, except when the says:

(i) ‘come to prayer, come to success’

instead one should say:

(ii) ‘There is no might nor power except with Allaah.’

One should then send prayers on the Prophet (S) after answering the call of the muadhdhin:

The Prophet (sa) said: “Whoever after listening to the Adhaan says:

Allah humma raba ha-thi hida’wa titaamma
Oh Allah owner of this perfect call (of not ascribing partners to You)

Was’a-laatil qaa ema
And of the regular prayer which is going to be established!

A ti muhammadan, el wa see la ta, wal fa ‘deelah
Kindly give Muhammad the right of intercession and superiority

Wab ‘ath hu ma qaa-man mah-moo dan ela thee wa a’dta
And send him on the day of judgement to the best and the highest place in paradise which you promised him.

Then intercession for me will be permitted for him on the Day of Judgement” [Hadith found in Bukhaari]

One should also supplicate for himself during the time between the aadhaan and the iqaamah as supplication at such time is not rejected.

Anas (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (s) said: ‘A supplication made between the Adhan and Iqama is not rejected.’ [Ahmad, abu Dawud #521, at-Tirmidhi #212, Sahih al-Jami #3408, an-Nasai and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (sound)]

  1. “Hi! Quick question that’s totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My web site looks weird when viewing from my iphone 4. I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to correct this issue. If you have any recommendations, please share. Thank you!”
