IBRAHEEM IBN ADHAM – may Allaah have mercy on him – a third century scholar, a teacher and a companion of Sufyaan ath-Thawree, was asked about the saying of Allah, The Most High – says in the Qur’aan:
“AND YOUR LORD SAYS: CALL ON ME I WILL ANSWER YOUR PRAYER…” [Soorah Ghaafir (40): 60]

We make du’aa to Allah, and then we ask “Why is Allah not answering my du’aa?” … maybe we need to ask ourselves the following 10 things:
1. We know Allah, yet we do not obey Him
2. We recite the Quran, yet we do not act according to it
3. We know Shaitaan (The Devil), yet we have agreed to follow him
4. We proclaim that we love the Messenger of Allah, sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, yet we have abandoned his Sunnah
5. We proclaim our love for Paradise, yet we do not work hard to gain it
6. We proclaim our fear for the Fire, yet we do not do anything to prevent yourselves from sins
7. We say “Indeed death is true”, yet we have not prepared for it
8. We engage ourselves with finding faults with others, yet we do not look at our own faults
9. We eat of that which Allah has provided for us, yet we do not thank Him
10. We bury our dead, yet we do not take a lesson from it.
We need to sit down and ask ourselves, does any of this apply to us? and if it does, then, maybe thats why Allah does not answer our du’aa? InshaaAllah let’s make a change today…
